MFT Creative Challenge

Welcome to this month's MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! This month we're highlighting how to do some serious scene building with MFT Stamps and Die-namics! I'm so anxious for spring weather here in wintry Wisconsin, so I've built a fun kite-flying scene and matching card to keep me sane until the snow stops falling around here!

Here's my scene built from the bottom up using Hearts and Stitches for the 'center line' on which my Die-namics Bicycle takes a pit stop to fly a kite. You can see that great texture in the tree trunk of my Die-namics Sheltering Tree and the road side sign made using the smallest Fishtail Flags Layers and an arrow from Labels and Tabs. The stamped words are from Expand Your View.

I wanted a whole group of kites but didn't want to clutter my scene, so I cut two of the kites from vellum using the Fly A Kite to let my Lemon Drop kite really stand out in the crowd. To give my scene more dimension, I stamped kite strings on the vellum kites using the Hearts and Stitches background set to contrast it with the Hemp Cord kite string and Electric Red bows of the Lemon  Drop kite.

Here's a little more detail on the Lemon Drop kite. To further emphasize the main kite, I die cut 4 kite panels, scoring 3 of them down and across the center and then adhered the three scored panels back to back. I used the fourth panel as a base for the three panels that I adhered together. Make sense? And, finally, what's a perfect kite flying scene without a few billowy Flat Bottom Clouds, right?!

My matching card uses the same Lemon Drop card stock, but this time with the Die-namics Jumbo Kite. Isn't it fun?! This time I die cut 2 kite panels, sewing them together down the center after scoring from point to point, horizontally and vertically. I love the combination of Lemon Drop and Electric Red, so I added a little more red with a single Fishtail Flags Layer stamped with Darling Dots and the arrow sentiment from Right This Way stamped in Electric Red ink. I can't tell you how deep and rich both of those colors are...yum!

Here's a fun little detail to follow through with the arrowed sentiment - a variety of stamped arrows from Right This Way on the background Black Licorice layer. Another sentiment from Right This Way is stamped on a smaller Flat Bottom Cloud, hopefully pulling the recipient to the inside of the card.

I've followed through with the same colors and shapes on the inside: two additional Fishtail Flags Layers in Electric Red and Lemon Drop, a 3x4 Notebook Paper in Sno Cone (trimmed to fit) and another Flat Bottom Cloud stamped with a sentiment from Just My Type.

There you have it, a spring inspired kite flying scene using a few of my favorite Die-namics! I can't wait to see the other scenery the MFT gals have put together, so let's head over to the MFT blog for a list of links! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed your visit.
