MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch 165

Happy Friday! I'm here with this week's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch with My Favorite Things. Did you know you can win MFT cash just by playing along with the sketch? Check in at the MFT Blog for all of the details!

My kitschy card uses some of my favs - Woodgrain Background and Life's Direction in a cheery color combo of Banana Split, Red Hot, Blu Raspberry and Orange Fizz. That'll wake ya up, huh?!

The rooster from Life's Direction is embossed in white and spritzed with Mix-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist for a fun contrast to the Banana Split woodgrain background.

Inside is a stamping combo that I just love - the sentiment(s) from Right on Target with the rooster from Life's Direction with a few red and orange ink spatters for that speckled egg look. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by for a bit today, I hope you're inspired to get sketchy! Below are direct links to all of the products I used on today's card. Have a great weekend, and I'll see you next week for the opening of the next Release Countdown with My Favorite Things.

MFT February Creative Challenge - Stencils!

What's hot right now and can be used in a gazillion different ways? Stencils! This month's Creative Challenge is all about using stencils, and My Favorite Things has a grand selection of them, so sit get ready to soak up some stencil goodness because the MFT Creative Team is on hand to provide you with lots of inspiration. Check out the MFT Blog for a complete list of those playing along today.

My first card uses the Petal Circles Stencil to dry emboss a soft and subtle background.

Because the Petal Circles Stencil reminded me of a double wedding ring quilt design,  I went with an americana-like color scheme and Sunflower Die-namics in Fuse Green and Happy Hello Die-namics in Nightshift Blue.

I had a bit of fun with the inside of this card complete with a bit of squawking from the Life's Direction rooster and Smart Phone Die-namics speech bubbles stamped with sentiments from the Friend Request stamp set.  Listed below are the MFT products used on this card:

Next up is the Striped Stencil used with acrylic paint that was tinted with Spearmint reinker for soft background with texture to boot.

After painting my Spearmint stripes, I lifted the stencil and sprinkled gold embossing powder to resemble sea spray.

To heat set the embossing powder, I held my paper over a stove burner turned on medium high heat versus using a heat gun that could have potentially blown away some of the powder between the stripes.

I had fun with the inside of this one, spritzing my inked stamps from Go Overboard and Watercolor Backdrops with a leftover concoction of water/Sno Cone reinker/Mix-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist. I LOVE the water-color look that spritzing gives. More gold embossing on the sentiment and 'sea spray'.  Listed below are the MFT products used on this card:

I hope you've been inspired to pull out your stencils and use them this week. I know I definitely pushed myself past my fear of the stencil-unknown.Good luck and have fun!

Wednesday Stamp Club + Color Palette Challenge

Long time, no see! I took a bit of a stamping hiatus the past week and decided it was time to get back into the groove with this week's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch and the current Color Palette Challenge from My Favorite Things. You can find details for both at the MFT blog: Color Palette Challenge & WSC Sketch #164.

I couldn't help but substitute the oval layer called for on the sketch with the gorgeous Hybrid Heirloom Rose and then paired it with the open Layered Leaves Die-namics. Love this combo!

One other 'liberty' I took was switching out Lemon Drop with Fuse Green. I hereby rescind my entry for the Color Palette Challenge if I must, but I just love how it neutralizes the Blu Raspberry here.

Inside is another Heirloom Label cut from Kraft card stock and stamped with sentiments from the newly released  Simply Fabulous Sayings.
Thank you for taking a minute to stop over today! I hope you get a chance to play along with this week's sketch and/or the color challenge which extends to March 5th at noon. Below are direct links to the MFT products used on today's card.
