MFT Wednesday Stamp Club #122

*This is my second MFT post for today, so please take a peek HERE at my Teasers Day 1 post when you're finished!*

Here we are with another MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch which you can view at the MFT blog as well as links to the other designers playing along today.

I used this week's sketch for a birthday card for my youngest son's bus driver who turned the big 6-0 a few weeks ago, so I was drawn to bright school colors, especially Lemon Drop yellow, just like his bus! My card also uses a few fun Die-namics: High Rise Numbers, Stacking Stars, Pie Chart, Blueprints 2, Notebook Paper and an arrow from Lead the Way.  Stamping includes an extended row of stars from Hello My Name Is and 'a little late' from Birthday Sentiments.

The inside of my card uses my favorite birthday sentiment combo, also from Birthday Sentiments. It's my go-to birthday set, people! Ü

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to keep a scrolling to see my Teaser Day 1 post from earlier today!

Wednesday Stamp Club #120

Welcome to this week's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch #120 from My Favorite Things! You can see the original sketch along with links to the design team members playing along with this week's sketch over at the MFT blog.

When I first saw the sketch I was so excited with the open canvas it provides, but as soon as I started working on my card, all of that wide-open space was giving me too many options, and you know what happens with too many options, don't you?! Brain freeze! So, the card that you're seeing today is probably my 3rd or 4th idea and I have to admit that I'm happy with it. My creative determination gave me time to remember all the trendy things I've been wanting to incorporate...woodgrain and gold embossing powder, whee!
I started with a black panel and then temporarily layered my woodgrain Die-namics InstaFrame so I could audition the perfectly sized sentiment without further trial and error, wink. This particular sentiment from Birthday Sentiments fit perfectly and went along with the trendy look I was aiming for. Before stamping the sentiment in watermark ink, I swiped my anti-static embossing buddy across the black layer. Trust me on that one, it's worth the extra effort to dig the embossing buddy out of hiding to get a nice clean embossed image, free of stray bits of powder here and there.

After the embossed image was finished, I mounted my woodgrain InstaFrame onto the black layer with foam tape to give the card front a bit more dimension. I opted for Die-namics Stacked Stars in lieu of the banner sections called for in the original sketch to continue on with the (hopefully) trendy-modern look and feel. This card is going out to my oldest brother for his birthday next week, and I think this look works for big brother!

Lastly, a peek at the inside finished with a strip of black across the bottom, stamped and embossed with another sentiment from the Birthday Sentiments set and row of stars from Rock On.

There you have it, another friendly sketch from My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamps Club! Hope you get a chance to play along this week. Head on over the MFT blog for more details!

Happy Birthday {awesome} Dad!

Today marks the birthday of my two oldest childrens' dad, Tom. Fortunately, we are somewhat of an anomaly in the world of divorce and maintain a good relationship, and since Hank asked me to pick up a gift for his dad, I thought it only appropriate to stamp a card for Hank to give him as well, right?! Ü

This month's release was nothing less than stellar in my book, so I grabbed a couple of my favorite sets from the release and got to work!  The front of the card features Hello My Name Is, Mod Borders and the Die-namics Bottom Line Alphabet dies spelling out 'DAD'. I stamped 'awesome' from Hello My Name Is behind the die cut letters for that fun subliminal messaging effect. The stars are from Stacking Stars and Accent It - Rock and Roll.

Here's the inside of the card stamped with a sentiment combination from Birthday Sentiments and row of stars from Rock On.

I'll be back on Monday for MFT's Release Rewind, so be sure to stay tuned here and at the MFT blog. Have a great weekend!

TCP Tuesday 218: Part II

I had so much fun with this week's color challenge for TCP Tuesday that I decided to use it again in conjunction with my favorite TCP set, The Mustache Set and CutUps Mustache die for a birthday card made for my bestest girlfriend and cousin, Jane. It's her birthday TODAY, so what better day to share it on the old blog, right?! Just one other detail I want to mention is the monocle 'I'...gotta love a play on words. It was cut with my Silhouette Cameo using a file from the Silhouette online store, love that place!

I'm off to wrap Jane's birthday gift and sign the card and then it's off to lunch with the birthday girl! Have a great weekend everyone.

TCP Tuesday 195: Happy Happy Birthday!

Welcome to this week's TCP Tuesday post! Leigh is our hostess this week with a great sketch for you, so hop over to her place to see the sketch in person. I've turned the sketch on it's head for my card which just happens to be in honor of my dear daughter Kendra's 19th birthday this Friday! Last year, for her 18th birthday, we went to her favorite restaurant, Fiesta Mexicana, and she's requested a repeat for this year's bash, so I just had to pull out those margarita-loving penguins from Hola Tequila!

Along with those fun-loving penguins, I've thrown in some yummy Mango Seam Binding that TCP carries and a banner made with the CutUps Pennant die. I was so excited thinking about those yummy margaritas that I just about forgot to tell you where the sentiment and '19' came from! The sentiment is from Birthday Bunny, and the number 19 is from the new Build-A-Bingo set, cool beans!

Head on over to Leigh's and Alma's blog for complete TCP Tuesday details and have a great Wednesday!

Bucks & Sheep!

Yesterday was my brother's birthday, and tomorrow marks his youngest son's birthday, so I got busy this morning making a couple of cards for them. The card above is for Anders, my nephew, who loves anything to do with hunting and fishing, so I thought this hilarious buck and coordinating sentiment from Paper Smooches was just the ticket! I also used a bit of Orange Divine Twine and CutUps Big Scallop die from The Cat's Pajamas. Here's the inside...

Next up is my brother's card using The Cat's Pajamas Ewe Complete Me and a computer generated sentiment. I copied the idea from The Spotted Chick...I almost died laughing when I first laid eyes on her original card and giggle every time I go back and look at it! Thanks for the awesome idea, Jeanie!

 ...and the punchline reads:

Isn't that the most hilarious thing ever?! Gets me every time I tell ya! Hope my brother gets a chuckle out of it as well.

Before I go, I have some really awesome news to share with you! As of September 1st, I am a proud member of the design team for Your Next Stamp! I can't wait to start sharing YNS creations with you on a regular basis!
