{sweet} 16!

It hadn't really phased me much until I started writing this post that my DD is turning 16 this week and all the feelings that go along with a mother's firstborn turning the proverbial "sweet 16"--aaack!! I don't think I'm "aacking" about feeling old but more so about her growing independence as she grows closer to the edge of the nest, so to speak. I know, I know...they don't "really" leave the nest for quite some time after highschool, but the hour is approaching and I find myself quite often wondering what it will be like for me! I guess I'll just stop right there and leave those thoughts for another day.

Obviously, this is the birthday card I made for her with the colors requested by her and total inspiration from a card Kelly Lunceford, aka Atomicbutterly, made for the Dirty Dozen Gallery a few years back. If you're a SCS Fan Club member, you'll be able to view the card by clicking here. If you're not a member, this is your chance to do so! You wouldn't believe all the inspiration that oozes from the monthly DD galleries--better than you could imagine!

Thanks Kelly for your inspiration! If you're not familiar with Kelly's work, you should be, so click here to view her blog.

Card Deets:
Stamps: SU! Collage Alphabet (retired), Office Accoutrement, Small Sayings

skeleton key charm, red tag alpha, Big Shot

Happy Birthday! Great teen card, Amy! I may be CASEing this shortly as Morgan turns 16 in April. :)

*blushing* thanks so much, amy! You are always so sweet! Can I just say I love your card *so* much better! It is charming and cute and just perfect! I really love that you used that alphabet, it is one of my all-time favorites, yet I never get it out! Thanks for reminding me how much I love it!

P.S. Did you notice about a week ago how I left a comment as an anonymous user? I seriously blanked as I went to leave the comment and it asked for my username and password. I seriously sat there for a minute or 2! I think I must have sniffed too much StazOn or something! LOL!

Amy, this design is awesome! An extra special card for an extra special celebration!

As a mom of teenagers, I can relate to all those future empty next feelings you're going through. Sends me to tears every time!
