SugarPea Designs Creative Color Challenge

Happy Monday, all! It's time for a new color challenge with SugarPea Designs, and I've got a clean and simple card to share with you today featuring this month's Creative Color Challenge #6. 

I die cut the Sugarcuts - Homescape from watercolor card stock and painted in the challenge colors using Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I then mounted it on a watercolor card stock card base on which I color washed a clear blue skyline.

Isn't the color inspiration photo beautiful? I totally want to take a walk down that abandoned railroad bed.

I was going to leave the rest of the card front open but then decided to add a tone on tone sentiment with the SugarCuts - Thanks.

Wrap It Up - Peace

It's Thursday, welcome! I'm sharing a project I've made with Reverse Confetti Confetti Cuts and accessories for this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Wrap It up!

I've wrapped up a Frosted Pillow Box that Reverse Confetti now sells with ivory burlap held together with Cappuccino Twine, also available at Reverse Confetti. I've used a trio of Confetti Cuts on the tag - Holly, Winter Words and Tag Me. The holly leaves are watercolored with a mix of greens and peace is cut from a scrap of corrugated cardboard. I just love the woodgrain look of it!

SugarPea Designs Challenge - Anything Goes!

Hello Wednesday! Hope you're having a great week so far and are ready for some Anything Goes fun with the SugarPea Designs Monthly Theme Challeng. Anything Goes can either send me reeling with excitement or running with fear, ha! This time around, I was reeling with excitement for all of the open possibilities and landed on a totally clean and simple Halloween card using my favorite Stitched Autumn Icons batty-bat and eye chart stamp from Read Between the Lines.

I'm also using the current Fusion Card Challenge - All Hallow's Eve as my (photo) inspiration.

A month or so ago I Spy'ed the word 'eek' in the Read Between the Lines eye chart stamp and tucked my little discovery away, just waiting for the right moment to use it. I thought I'd better hop on my little secret soon since Halloween is just a little over a week away. Using my MISTI stamping tool, I first stamped only 'eek' in black ink and embossed it. Then, I inked up the entire stamp with Versamark ink and clear embossed it. The MISTI tool allowed me to work with my stamped image layer (apply embossing powder and heat set it) and then re-position it in the original spot for the Versamark stamped layer.

I then went in with an orange watercolor wash to reveal the clear embossed sentiment and die cut it with the tag from SugarCuts Gift Tag, BUT I used a partial die-cutting technic and only used the round bottom edge of the die to cut both top and bottom of my eye chart layer. It's a great way to stretch your dies. You can find a tutorial on partial die-cutting HERE.

SPD SugarSketch 31 - Merry Christmoose!

Happy Friday! I'm kicking off the weekend right with a fun sketch challenge from SugarPea Designs, and I'm hoping you'll be so inspired to follow suit and play along. You know you can win a little sugar cash, don't you? I'll tell you how at the end of the post, but for now let's take a look at my version of the sketch.

Is he cute or what?! I've been itching to get inky with the cutest moose ever from Merry Christmoose and this month's sketch gave him plenty of room to roam. 

I colored cutie moose with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers, fussy cut him out by hand (haven't done that in awhile) and planted him on top of a layer of sticks that I grabbed from a vase I have in the house. I'm sure you're wondering how I adhered them to the card base, right? Ah yes, very tricky! I used a combo of hot glue and Ranger Multi Medium: Matte. The sentiment is also from Merry Christmoose, and the patterned fishtail flag is compliments of Build A Background: Basics.

 

And here's the original sketch for you to follow. As you can see, I simplified mine a little (mostly because I was going by the sketch I remembered in my head and not a printed out copy of it, oops).

Reverse Confetti Fall-idays: Christmas

Happy Fall-idays Christmas with Reverse Confetti! 

Jen and the Confetti Crew have tons of fun Christmas crafting ideas for you, so let's get started! Direct links to all blogs can be found at the end of this post.

I've got three projects to share with you today that feature the rounded rectangle die from Documented Confetti Cuts.  I intended for my holiday trio to be used as gift tags, but I really think you could use them for scrapping, Project Life or as mini-cards as there's plenty of room on the back for a hand written message.

 I stamped my rounded rectangle with the wide single stripe from So Stripey and sentiment from Jolly Holiday, layered that cutie reindeer from Jolly Holiday and sewed a clear plastic rounded rectangle on top, leaving an opening for my magic reindeer food. My reindeer like gold stars, so I sprinkled a few of them in as well. Then I sewed the opening closed and added a bit more red with the Circle Garland Confetti Cuts.

I glammed this one up with gold washi tape, a gold clothespin and fun mix of Confetti Cuts - Winter Words, Globe, Double Scallop Garland and Stitched Flag Trio.

This one is my clean and simple abstract Santa featuring Confetti Cuts - Stitched Flag Trio, Holly and Wonky Double Edge Scallop Border. I had a question about how to die cut only one edge of the border, and it's called Partial Die Cutting, and it's accomplished by sandwiching only the portion of the die you want to cut through your cardstock. In this case I used the top plate to cover only the side/half of the wonky scallop that I wanted to cut my Santa beard.
