Verve October Release Blog Hop

Welcome to Verve's October Release Retrospective!

I've had a great time playing with the beautiful October release stamps as one of the Verve Guest Divas and am back with one last look at Good Work and Just Breathe. Everything spotlighted is available to order in the Verve Store and is currently 20% off! Plus, we've got a sweet hop prize in store, so read on for more!

My first card uses the Good Work stamp set and coordinating Good Work Flower Die Set

I watercolored a bright purple background over my white embossed sentiment. I used the same technique on the die cut flower and love the serene softness of it. Then I created a rectangular opening for a shaker card and sprinkled in color coordinated sequins and clear micro beads and rain drops.

My second card also employs a watercolor technique using acetate to smoosh the color onto the watercolor cardstock. I also smooshed color into masked stripes on the card base, lightening the color as I worked from the bottom up.

A single sentiment from Just Breathe is embossed in copper embossing powder and embellished with a trio of wood veneer stars for a clean and simple card. These beautiful sentiment stamps in Just Breathe and Good Work can definitely hold their own. I can't wait to spend a little more time with both sets and think you'll agree!

SugarPea Designs Trick-or-Treat Blog Hop

Click HERE for my Verve October Release Blog Hop

We have a lot of fun in store for you today as our spooktacular team of designers have all concocted up some frightfully sweet tricks and treats. As you "Trick or Treat" by stopping by each of our designers blogs, you'll not only be treated to some amazing paper crafting eye candy, but you will also receive some faBOOlous TRICKS and TREATS along the way.

Wendy has started things off by giving you your first treat by offering everyone 15% off your entire order this weekend by using code: BOO2U  Expires: Midnight EST - November 1, 2015
Happy Halloween!  Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  I'm giving out a TRICK that's sort of a treat! I have a quick picture tutorial on partial die-cutting that makes it easy to stretch your dies. (Please ignore my well-loved Big Shot sandwich plates!)

Step 1: stamp and color images for bookmark and line up Brainy Bookmarks die on bottom die cut sandwich plate.

Step 2: Add top die cut sandwich plate only over the portion you want to cut (I don't want to cut the top scallop edge just yet, so I'm leaving that un-sandwich'ed).

Step 3: Decide on desired length of bookmark. I didn't want mine to be quite as tall as the original bookmark height.

Step 4: Reposition the bookmark die to desired length, being sure to line up (nestle in) the edges of the die to previously cut edges and then secure in position with repositionable tape (3M Post It tape works great).

Step 5: Repeat Step 2, but this time you'll be cutting the top edge of the book mark instead of the bottom.

Step 6: Remove your re-sized bookmark and finish as you like.

I actually added a reverse side to mine, doing a little stamp surgery with stamps from Read Between the Lines to create a fun Halloween sentiment. To add  sturdiness to it, I also laminated the whole bookmark. HOWEVER, next time I would laminate it all BEFORE die cutting it for a more seamless look.

I have one last trick for you today demonstrating how I omitted the 'k' in the book worm stamp to create my fun Halloween 'boo worm' bookmark.

Step 1: Using MISTI, stamp book and flower pot images in black ink.

Step 2: Use a black marker to fill in the 'k'.

Step 3: Reink and stamp the book and flower pot images again. I actually stamped them two more times. The MISTI keeps everything in position for easy repeated stamping.

Presto, magic, the 'k' has disappeared!

Are you ready to do more Trick or Treating! Don’t forget to leave a comment at each designers blog for your chance to win one or our 4 TREATS. Winners will be announced in a special blog post, Monday, Nov 2nd.

We'll also be kicking off Sweet Peek Week on Monday, November 2nd for our Holiday Release, so be sure to stop back then!

Guesting with Verve!

I'm so excited to be guest designing with Verve's latest release and couldn't BE more giddy over the delicious stamps that arrived from Julee - the fonts are just dreamy, and take a look at that wheat stamp! Speaking of Julee, the beauty, brains and brawn behind Verve, she's ever so generously giving away a $30 (yes, $30!) voucher to the Verve store to one lucky commenter on today's blog post!!
I've got two cards to share with you today using Good Work and Just Breathe, so let's get started.

My wonderful wheat card starts with a card base stamped repeatedly with the wheat stamp in Versamark ink to create a whispy background. So easy with such impact. Then I tied burlap ribbon across the top and tied a stamped tag to it. The tag is stamped with a sentiment from Good Work in Versafine Onyx Black using my MISTI for nice, solid coverage. (Click HERE for a product review of the MISTI, it really is incredible.)

My second card uses one of the many sentiments from Just Breathe, a wonderful set filled with encouraging words centered around breast cancer but so appropriate for many different occasions as well. I can't tell you how much I love that 'B' in Brave!

I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black with my MISTI over wide pink stripes and then layered it behind a rectangular opening. I'd considered making this into a shaker card but opted for a few wood veneer stars instead and really love how this one turned out. Clean and simple with a little fun sprinkled in.

Verve will be selecting a random commenter on this post to win a $30 gift voucher to the Verve Store! So leave a little love before Sunday, November 1 to be entered in the drawing. Winner will be announced on the Verve Blog on November 2.

I hope you've enjoyed my projects using Good Work and Just Breathe and am so thankful to be included in the October release at Verve.  I'll be back tomorrow with more Verve. Thanks for stopping by today!

Reverse Confetti - Let It Snow Tag

Welcome! I'm so glad you stopped in today because I've got a bright and cheery little number to share with you today using some new-to-me Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti.

Along with my adorable Confetti Cuts, I've done a little stamping using Winter Word Coordinates and So Stripey (love saying 'so stripey'). I used my MISTI miracle stamping tool (now that I've dared to try it) to get nice even coverage on my so stripey stripes. It really is one of the coolest tools I've dared to try, folks!

How about taking a look at your old and new stamps and dies and have a little fun mixing and matching this week, or trying out a new tool or technique?!
