{Strut Your Stuff} Barn Board Pallet Art

Welcome to this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch post! If you're looking for my July Teasers Day 1 post, just keep scrolling down, or click HERE for a direct link! There is all sorts of celebration going on at MFT this month in honor of their 7th birthday, so stop daily at the MFT Blog for complete details. Lots of prizes and exclusive stamps and Die-namics!

For my WSC sketch card, I pulled out my fav Life's Direction in combination with a sentiment from Right On Target and got to work making something that I'll call barn board pallet art! I'm smitten with all of the pallet art I've been seeing over at Pinterest and knew I had to translate my MFT stamps and Die-namics into something on an A2 scale!

Here is a closer view of the barn boards, embellished with a Sunflower Die-namics cut from Lemon Drop and Hot Fudge card stock. The sentiment is stamped in Hot Fudge ink, and the Electric Red card base is stamped randomly with the chicken wire stamp from Distressed Backgrounds in Steel Blue ink.

Here is how I made the barn boards from Kraft card stock, Western Backgrounds, Steel Blue ink and the Chalkboard Frame Builder Die-namics.
1. Stamp wood grain stamp from Western Backgrounds onto piece of Kraft card stock in Steel Blue ink (I stamped off once).
2. Stamp and emboss image from Life's Direction (I used the rooster, but I can't wait to use the cow, pig and horse, too).
3. Tape two longest Chalkboard Frame Builder pieces together and start die-cutting your stamped Kraft layer, placing the tethered CFB pieces directly below your previous cut. You'll get a tiny sliver between the two Die-namics but I think it adds to the authentic, haphazard barn board look that is wabi-sabi in my book!
4. Carefully piece all 'barn boards' together and adhere with a slightly smaller piece of card stock to the back to hold it all together and give it more stability. I also trimmed my edges to the size I needed and distressed the edges by pulling and bending random edges.
The inside of the card is simply stamped with the rooster and weathervane images from Life's Direction in watermark ink with a birthday sentiment from LLD Playlist stamped on a Die-namics Sentiment Strips 2 (new this release).

I hope you've enjoyed your visit today and come back in the morning for Teasers Day 2!

That should say similar, but I can't figure out how to change it now.....
