Welcome! You may have hopped here from Susan's blog, and I'm so glad to have you here. Lots of fun stuff going on today, including our weekly TCP Tuesday challenge in conjunction with a blog hop featuring just-released stamps and CutUps dies from The Cat's Pajamas! Julie is this week's challenge hostess, so she's at the top of the lineup if you'd like to start there. Julie also has the challenge details laid out for us as well: hand made flowers with an emphasis on the CutUps dies.
I've always, always loved May Day! I have great memories of picking May flowers and leaving them on the doorstep of a loved one, most often times my Grandma Ione, who always enjoyed them. I usually just knocked on her door and handed her the bouquet I'd picked, but I also remember making May Day baskets at school, especially the version using strips of construction paper woven together. I'm guessing I love this 'holiday' as much as I do because it actually marks the beginning of my 'birthday month', wink! Enough about me though, let me introduce you to my 2012 May Day cone featuring a few CutUps dies: Easy Rosette, Heart Border, Pom Pom Flower and Lacey Butterfly.
This side view shows the new CutUps Pom Pom Flower die in action. I actually cut a small circle in the side of the cone and then cuts slits to widen the circle and allow the stem of the flower through so that it would be flush with the side of the cone (clear as mud?). You can also see the new CutUps Heart Border as well. Each of the side flowers is draped with a combination of Dove & Ivory Seam Binding and Beige Linen Thread.
The front view shows off the Easy Rosette in black topped with the Lacey Butterfly and a sentiment from the new set, Bloom. I searched and searched for the perfectly easy cone template and ended up having the best luck cutting out a cone with my Silhouette Cameo and a file from the Silhouette Online Store.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll be more than happy to answer them as best as I can! Now, the show must go on, so hop on over to Christine's place for something sure-to-please!
Thanks for stoppin' and hoppin'!
~Amy
