Color Throwdown 440 - The Little Things

Welcome to this week's Color Throwdown Challenge, a happy combination of magenta/purple, yellow and green. I've combined the challenge with a sentiment from Posted Note Sentiments and Reverse Confetti's Whole Lotta Thanks.

http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2017/04/color-throwdown-440.html

Since overcoming my fear of layered stamped flowers, I've become quite fond of Reverse Confetti's Whole Lotta Thanks. If you lack confidence (as did I), this is a great set to work with. On the larger blooms, I started with a lighter shade of purple and then stamped the star blossom over it with a darker shade. I used my MISTI for these initial steps to get a nice solid coverage, especially on the light purple layer. I then stamped the green leaves and yellow accent flowers and die cut the whole bunch using the coordinating Whole Lotta Thanks Confetti Cuts.

SugarPea Designs is hopping with My Sweet Petunia!

Welcome to the blog and happy Friday! We are kicking off the weekend with a fun hop promoting two awesome companies - SugarPea Designs & My Sweet Petunia (home of the MISTI). There are some awesome giveaways from both companies, so be sure to leave a comment before you hop along (see the entire hop list below).

For my stop on the hop, I'm sharing a picture tutorial using stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs in conjunction with the MISTI tool and MISTI Creative Corners.  I used SugarPea's Striped Background stamp along with Whatever The Weather stamps and dies. Thanks to a bit of stamp surgery I was able to customize the rainbow striped background and vary the space between stripes. I simply (and carefully) trimmed off one of the stripes and then used my MISTI + Creative Corners to stamp stripes precisely where I wanted them and in a rainbow of colors.

step one
I placed my single stripe first on the grid paper to ensure that it was nice and straight

step two
Using one of the two corners with embedded magnets for precise placement, I placed my cardstock inside the corner

step three
I stamped my first stripe with aqua ink, repeating several times for solid coverage. The corner piece allows me to re-position the cardstock in the exact spot as needed.

step four
I simply move the corner piece up the left hand edge of the MISTI to continue stamping stripes in different colors, varying the amount of space between stripes for a little change-up.

step five
At this point, I flipped my cardstock to stamp the final two stripes in orange and fuschia.

step six
The corner also helps to hold things in place while I decide on the placement of the sentiment.

step seven
I'm able to repeatedly stamp the sentiment for solid coverage.

step eight
Tip: double cut the umbrella and pop up the second inside layer for dimension.

Please leave a comment on each of the links below for a chance to win the following with winners being announced on April 28th HERE and on the SPD blog:

Sweet Peek Week - Watt's Up #LIUB

Today is release day at SugarPea Designs and we're finishing up Sweet Peek Week with two more stamp sets and coordinating SugarCut dies. I'm sharing a peek at Watt's Up? in shades of blue in recognition of the Light It Up Blue for World Autism Month. I hope you'll take a minute to check out LIUB as well as the SugarPea Designs blog for complete release information and direct links to all designers sharing their sneak peeks.

As soon as I saw Watt's Up? I knew I wanted to incorporate the signature blue color of the LIUB campaign. I started by white embossing the bulb on watercolor paper and then added blue ink from a Zig marker using both a watercolor brush and ink smooshing with acetate. Once it was dry, I die cut it using the stitched rectangle from SugarCut - Birthday Journal Card and layered it on top of a SugarCut - Starburst Cover Panel cut from matching blue cardstock.

You'll be happy to know that Watt's Up? is this month's Sweet Incentive Stamp and will be free to you with a $60 purchase from April 14 - May 12. Thank you so much for joining me this week for sneak peeks of this fabulous new release from SugarPea Designs. I hope I've given you some inspiration to tuck away for your future projects.

Sweet Peek Week - What's Shakin' Bacon?

Welcome to day 4 of Sweet Peek Week with SugarPea Designs - just one more day until the new release is available for purchase. Do you have a list going?

This Little Piggy is absolutely adorable and funny, too! I colored the hula-hooping piggy with Zig markers and die cut her with the coordinating SugarCut - This Little Piggy die. I then die cut an opening using the SugarCut - Zig Zag Stitched Circles dies and backed the opening with the polka dot paper from Sugar & Spice. Instead of a real shaker, I layered a strip of gold tape to give the appearance of a settled shaker mix and then stamped the sentiment inside. I just love her smile!

Before you go, leave a little love in the comment box for a chance to win This Little Piggy!
