I cannot even express my excitement over yesterday's teaser set:
Life's Direction! It was inspired by my late father's hand cut farm animals and my love of weather vanes and all things farm-related. You might want to grab a glass of milk and a plate of cookies, because this is going to be one of those long-winded posts. Ü
I'm starting off with a fun and simple card to stamp featuring the rooster from
Life's Direction. As you'll see over the next few days of Teasers, I simply cannot put down this rooster stamp! It's probably due to the fact that my dad started collecting roosters the year before his death, and I've continued on with his collection. I stamped a lone rooster in
Lemon Drop ink and then surrounded him with roosters stamped in
Steel Blue, once stamped off. I love the character added to the main image through the imperfections in the
Steel Blue images. I took that look a step further and sprayed ink using my color spritzer tool. The image panel was then layered on
Steel Blue, tied in the corners with heavy twine and popped up on a
Lemon Drop card base.
The inside of my card uses the new
Die-namics Heirloom Label, stamped with one of the sentiments from Life's Direction.
Next up is a fun, graphic card that I plan to give as a graduation card.
Life's Direction is a perfect graduation set!
I stamped each image and sentiment in Black Licorice ink on
Steel Blue card stock. I just love this new color as a neutral, especially combined with Lemon Drop! After stamping my images, I trimmed each and played around with the placement on the Black Licorice layer, as if working a puzzle. Once I found a suitable arrangement, I decided to add an odd-man-out shape with the circled star stamp from another new set coming out this month,
Document It - Bingo.
I continued the arrow theme on the inside as well, using a sweet little arrow from Right On Target across a strip of Steel Blue. I created a gift pocket on the lower half and then stamped another sentiment from
Life's Direction above the half circle.
My final project today shows my first attempt at mixed media on an 8x10 canvas. I've been ogling over projects from some of my MFT design teammates and decided to give it a go! Here is my canvas in snippets, with the final view down below.
This view shows the bottom right corner which features a sentiment from
Life's Direction,
Die-namics Sunflower(s),
Die-namics Barbed Wire Fence and a
Die-namics Happy Hellos in
Tangy Orange.
Lots to share in this corner, including the new
Die-namics Chicken Wire, weathervane base and sentiment from
Life's Direction, Die-namics
Cloud Trio &
Barbed Wire Fence. In the grassy green area, you'll notice a checkered pattern where I pulled green paint off by pressing one of the stamps from
Distressed Backgrounds into the paint while it was still tacky.
I again used Distressed Backgrounds, but this time I painted acrylic paint onto the stamp and pressed it directly onto the canvas, creating extra texture and dimension in that sunny little corner. You also get a good look at my favorite rooster from Life's Direction, stamped first onto a piece of vintage dictionary page, trimmed out and modge-podged onto the canvas. After my canvas had dried, I added doodling with a fine-tip black marker.
