Let's Ketchup - Mojo Monday 302

I'm playing along with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #302 using the newly released Grillin' Girl. I colored her with Copics and popped her behind a LLD Insert It - Insta Frame cut from Black Licorice card stock and topped it with a sentiment stamped in Black Licorice ink onto a Sentiment Strips 2 Die-namics stamped with Washi Patterns in Steel Blue. Her cute apron is paper pieced with a piece of white card stock stamped with the diagonal stripe (my favorite!) from Washi Patterns in Lemon Drop.

Tip: I opted to use a scrap from my son, George's (cheaper) card stock for the apron because it's much thinner and more easily paper pieced. (George insists loves drawing on what he refers to as 'hard paper', lol)

Just for fun, I added a trio of Lemon Drop dots from the Dispersed Dots Die-namics and Blueprints 5 to pull in the Lemon Drop color of her apron and contrast with the ketchup bottles stamped background...sorta like drips of mustard! Below that is another sentiment cut from vellum using the Accent It - Celebrate Die-namics embellished with a row of micro-beads.

 

I finished the inside of the card with a Lemon Drop rounded rectangle cut from Blueprints 5 stamped with Grillin' Girl and topped with the sentiment strip from Blueprints 5. I added another trio of Dispersed Dots and Blueprints 5 to pull in the Steel Blue color from the card front.

Mojo Monday 300 {Missing You}

Three hundred of anything is a lot in my book, so I thought it was most important to make some time in my day today to play with Mojo Monday's 300th sketch! You should see all the great prizes up for grabs, check it out over at the Mojo Monday Blog! Seriously, there are a ton of companies showing a little love for this special milestone, My Favorite Things included!

I decided it was time to dig through my stash of extra die-cuts, in an attempt to further challenge myself, and came up with MFT's trendy cool typewriter from Just My Type. It was already stamped and cut, so it was just a matter of finding papers to coordinate.

I also found a couple Mini Heirloom Blooms Die-namics in that same stash as the typewriter and thought they'd work in perfectly with the sketch. The sentiment, also from Just My Type, is stamped on a Fishtail Flags Die-namics in Hot Fudge ink. I'm really loving how the Hot Fudge ink gives the sentiment a vintage look.

Inside is another sentiment from Just My Type, again in Hot Fudge with a simple silhouette stamped image of the typewriter in Steel Blue ink on Kraft. Love the combo of these two inks on Kraft!

Mojo Monday 280: I Love You 100%

 It's been far too long since I've participated in the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! I've combined this week's sketch with lots of MFT stamps and scraps of some of my favorite patterned paper that just happened to fall together nicely!

The main sentiment from For The Record was stamped on the smallest Fishtail Flags Layers STAX before layering it on a scrap of thin cork board die cut with Die-namics Framed Greetings. The sentiment piece was then popped up on a piece of ledger paper that was die cut on one end using the spiral notebook edge of the new Die-namics LLD Notebook Paper and stamped diagonally with the chevron print from Right This Way and the XOXO from Coupon Book - Love. I couldn't forget the embellishment called for on the Mojo Monday sketch, so I added the 100% from Off The Chart.

 Here's a peek at both sides of the inside of the card.

The left side is fitted with a Horizontal Gift Card Pocket which houses one ticket for a massage for my dear husband. The ticket was hand stamped and die cut using Coupon Book - Love and the companion Die-namics Ticket Book.

I love how the right hand side turned out using an arrow stamp from Right This Way and a simple sentiment from Lovey Dovey Sentiments. I finally got on the bandwagon and purchased a few rolls of washi tape. I think this black striped roll has the perfect masculine feel to it, just right for my manly-man!

TCP Tuesday 173: Stop By For A {color challenge} Spell!

This week's TCP Tuesday challenge is being hosted by our sweet Tori Wild, and she's got a somewhat 'fall-ish' color challenge for us: cornflower blue, orange and brown. As you can see, I've taken some liberties with the 'orange' portion of the combo, leaning toward the yellows and rust tones, but it was part of a Recollections paper pack that I thought worked beautifully with the color challenge and couldn't resist using it.

I've paired up the colors with my most favorite witch from Witchy,  CutUps Pinking  & Cloud border dies, and some fabulous Aqua seam binding The Cat Pajamas is now carrying! I should also mention that the sketch used is this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #205...a bit challenging with the different edges, but easy enough to mask where the edges meet with ribbon, or in this case, seam binding!  Check out Mojo Monday #205 for some really awesome samples from the team.

Mojo Monday 195 {Dad}

A (somewhat) quick card using this week's Mojo Monday sketch along with a sentiment from Verve"s World's Best set, more burlap (I know, seriously?), a Karen Foster charm, and die cut letters using more wood veneer paper from The Cat's Pajamas. Besides being burlap-obsessed, I've again used my PTI woodgrain embossing plate...love.

How are you coming on Father's Day cards? I'm thinking this one wraps it up for me, so be looking for something not-masculine later this week. The Cat's Pajamas has a girly-fun color combo coming up tomorrow on Tori's blog, so check it out!

Mojo Monday 189 {Mom}

Just when I thought I was going to take a month off from stamping, I realized how many cards I really, really need to make: Mother's Day, birthdays, graduations...what was I thinking?! The Mojo Monday sketch this week inspired me to get on with a few of the cards on my list, starting with one for my Mom, entirely inspired by Julee's sample...

I'd (honestly) thought about stamping these leaves in black, and then when I saw Julee's card, I just knew it was an 'ok' thing to do, and it wouldn't look dark and depressing one bit! Another fun piece of my card is the button card layer which is from Kerri Bradford's This & That: Spring, so I'm pleased to announce my first official 'hybrid' card...sorta?! Of course, those beautiful leaves and flowers (as well as the sentiment) are all from Verve...could not, could not, could not resist ordering those sets: Bloom & Grow and Love Deepens, along with the coordinating dies.

TCP Tuesday 156: Inspiration Challenge

I'm back with another TCP Tuesday challenge and another TCP bunny, but before I share "the card",  I have to apologize for being so scarce here on the old blog. We are gearing up for Kendra's graduation party at the end of May, and although there aren't too many "graduation" items on my plate this week, it seems that my brain is only able to function in "graduation" mode these days! I truly hate it because stamping is (as you all know) my time to de-stress (most of the time) and get away from it all at the end of the day.

Ok, enough about graduation stuff, how about a birthday? Last week was my little brother's birthday card, and this week's card could definitely go to my oldest brother (his birthday was Sunday)...you got it, I haven't sent his card out either! I used a very cool inspiration piece provided by Jen, and while she's nursing a wicked burn on her arm, Jenny is our acting hostess with the mostess, or HWTM, as I like to say. Mojo Monday 151 + TCP CutUps = Monday Funday!

What do you get when you pair the Mojo Monday sketch, TCP CutUps and MFT Die-Namics? A goofy witch, of course! I was so inspired by Leigh O'Brien's CutUps Christmas tree from last week's TCP Tuesday Supply Challenge, that I just had to stretch the horizons of TCP's new CutUps wave die for myself.

Here are the to-die-for deets on my goofy witch (ha ha, get it--to "die" for?!):

• Hair: die cut two strips of purple cardstock using CutUps wave die; emboss with PTI woodgrain Impressions plate
• Face: cut triangle from green cardstock and stamp eyes using quotation marks and mouth with "D" from TCP Babydoll alphabet set
  
• Hat: cut triangle from black cardstock and die cut brim using MFT's Framed Greetings Die-Namics die (trim bottom portion of label for brim); embellish using TCP CutUps flower button, button dies and Black Licorice Divine Twine
• Drippy green edge is MFT's Die-Namics Fresh Cut Grass die
• Sentiment layer is PTI's ticket die and a sentiment from TCP's Fright Night

Can't scare a teacher!

Here's a peek of a card I posted on the American Art Stamp blog today, featuring yet another of Emerson Quillin's ladies, as I like to refer to them. I can totally relate to the sentiment, working as a school based speech/language pathologist alongside a group of robust teachers who can weather any storm that the educational system throws at 'em!

I embossed my image using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder (thank you for whomever it was that alerted me to the fact that the Versafine ink is emboss-able) and then got to coloring. I finally broke down and got me some of those "Copics" that all of my cool stamper friends are using, but please don't look too closely, I'm still learning! A few stitches around the perimeter, staples and a text printed (PTI Text Style) die cut flower (SU! Birds & Blooms) finish this one off. Oh, almost forgot to tell you that I used Mojo Monday Sketch #111 for this one, so that means I'd better give you the whole picture, eh?! Here it is...

Best of Breed

I have two cards to share with you today, both of which use another hilarious Emerson Quillin image from American Art Stamp, Best of Breed. The first card uses this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and the second card uses a pretty standard layout with the addition of what else--a circle! I seem to be sticking circles in everywhere lately. Both images are colored with reinkers and colored pencils with sponging around the edges.

Knit One, Pearl Three

Toni is our Hipster Hostess with the Mostess for TCP Tuesday 76, and she's challenging us to use bling, embossing and at least 3 circles of some type in our swanky creations this week. I wanted to also incorporate this week's Mojo Monday sketch, and the circles involved fit right in with Toni's challenge.

This is one of my favorite Poochie images, knitting the day away, so talented that he probably doesn't even need to bother looking at a pattern. In fact, he probably just makes up the patterns as he goes, don't you suppose?! I colored Poochie's sweater with reinkers and aqua brush in celery, sky and navy. Continuing with the knitting theme are my embossed argyle-like background and trio of pearls (do they count as bling?)...get it--knit one, PEARL three? Ahh, I crack myself up at times!

Mojo Monday Halloween

I've combined this week's Mojo Monday sketch with an adorable image from American Art Stamp called Cat by Robin Pickens. I also added a sentiment from their Halloween 2 cling set, cutting each word separately to form the rectangle layer of the sketch. Once I started doing things in three's, I couldn't stop! There are 3 buttons representing the horizontal layer; 3 circles forming the main image layer (I'm counting the button as a circle); 3 mini black dots on kitty's belly; 3 larger black dots on the corner; and 3 medium black dots to the left of the sentiment as called for in the sketch.

Mojo Monday-ish meets TCP Tuesday on Wednesday!

Today's post title translates to this: I tried incorporating Mojo Monday 86 into my TCP Tuesday 58 and am finally posting it today--Wednesday! The -ish part of the mojo monday is because I strayed a bit from the sketch, but it was necessary in order to use the mod car image from TCP's It's a Mod, Mod World set. The size of the card made my center image panel wider, making less room on either side for separate panels called for on the original sketch. You can see what I mean by clicking on the Mojo Monday link above.

I created this card last night and had so much fun because even though I was following the parameters of 2 challenges (somewhat), I really felt like I was stamping for my own enjoyment, and that's what it's all about, right? I pulled out paper from Crate Paper's Zoom collection thinking it would be a fun match for the TCP car and pooch, although the addition of the sentiment (I'm just your love machine) to the base layer text (i like to go fast) makes me wonder if I've gone a little too far with my zest for fun and wonky combinations, if you kwim?!

Just a comment or two on a few of the extra-extras and I'll be on my way:

• the paper pieced car was stamped in watermark ink, embossed with clear ep, cut and layered on the car image stamped in Wild Wasabi
• the "rocky road" was achieved with wonky punches using 1/16" and 1/8" punches
• Sakura gelly roll pen in Stardust was added here and there for a fun sparkly contrast to the muted colors in the designer paper

Mojo Monday meet The Cat's Pajamas!

For this week's Mojo Monday sketch (#81 if you're keeping track!) using a fun new set from TCP, Beans & Bunnies & Peeps. Oh My!, along with fun paper and accessories from SU!--Urban Oasis DSP, felt flower, corduroy button, brads and yummy ribbon from the Valet Collection.

Whoot whoot, it's a Mojo Monday sketch!

For Mojo Monday #80, a fun sketch that allowed for mixing and matching patterned papers. I chose SU!'s Good Morning Sunshine DSP paired with an adorable new stamp set from My Cute Stamps, My Forest Friends. The entire stamped area is paper pieced and popped up for a little extra dimension, and the darling leaves are hanging over the main image panel just a bit. I love the look of going beyond the box, so to say, and it's so easy to achieve when paper piecing. You simply trim "the box" and then add your paper pieced portion over top, kwim?! I think you can tell what I mean as you look at the picture.

Other details include the sentiment from Kim Hughes' URA Hoot (CHF), a felt fusion flower topped with a corduroy brad (SU!), 3 Old Olive mini brads (SU!) and chocolate twill from Taylored Expressions.

Hope your day is full of "whoot whoot" moments!

Chocolate Butterflies

This is the first time I've participated in the Mojo Monday sketch challenges, and I do say--I'll be back for more! I've seen more and more of my daily blog stops using the sketches and really enjoy them.

For today's card, I used SU! supplies with the exception of the Martha Stewart butterfly punch. The designer paper is Parisian Spring Specialty DSP, ribbon is from the Valet collection, pearls from the My Pretties kit and sentiment from Carte Postale. I think all of these elements work well together. A bit of sponging on the Baja Breeze layer sets it apart from the card base of the same color with a row of piercing on the bottom to balance it all out.
