I am SO excited to be sharing my first post as an official member of the Reverse Confetti Design Team with you today! Summer Fun + ABC (anything but a card) is the theme of the hop, and I've got a couple of cute ABC projects to share with you, so let's get moving!
Speaking of moving, you may have arrived here from Kathy's blog and you'll want to hop along to Amy's blog when you've finished up here. Or, if you want to start at the tippy top of the hop, go to the Reverse Confetti Blog.
This is my version of shaker meets embroidery hoop using a sentiment from My World, that cutie pie alligator from Later Alligator and bright shiny sunshine from Weather It Together.
I started by watercoloring my background using Zig Clean Color Markers and then stamped and embossed the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder. Both the sun and alligator were also colored with Zig Clean Color Markers and trimmed using their coordinating dies (links to all RC products are at the bottom of the post). I really wanted it to look like he was wading in the ocean, so I colored a scrap of vellum with the same markers and trimmed it to look like lapping waves.
Now comes the fun part - the shaker! I used a large circle die to trim a piece of acetate to fit over the front of the hoop, adhering it very carefully with just enough, but not too much, Glossy Accents. Once it was dry, I flipped it over, sprinkled in my shaker mix and adhered my scene to the back of the hoop.
My second ABC project uses a sweet little chalkboard easel combined with a sentiment from Posted Note Sentiments I and Confetti Cuts - Weather It Together and Globe. I realize this is a little back-to-school in nature, but let's face it, we're all thinking about going back to school (or for me, work) at this point of the summer; some of us happy about shoo'ing those kiddos out the door and some of us whimpering as we head out the door.
I used the negative cut from the Confetti Cuts Globe base and filled it in with a white colored pencil directly on the chalkboard. I love how it turned out and looks so chalkboard real! I couldn't resist portraying the globe as the iconic teacher's apple and this perfect sentiment to go with it. To make the apple, I white embossed the sentiment on watercolor paper, randomly brushed Zig Clean Color Markers on top and then blended my colors together with an aqua-brush. I finished off my apple with a hand cut stem from cork and green felt leaf. Finally, I added mini cork hearts cut with Confetti Cuts - Weather It Together.
Now for the fun part - how you can win somethin' real nice! How about a gift certificate? Leave a comment at each stop along the hop for a chance to win a $15 Reverse Confetti gift certificate. Thanks for stopping by today and remember to hop along to Amy's blog next, I'm sure she's got some great eye candy for you!
