TCP Tuesday 225: Sketch Challenge

Hi there and welcome to this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge! Amy Sheffer is our hipster hostess with a fun sketch for us, so stop by her blog for complete TCP Tuesday 225 details.  Here's my version of Amy's sketch...

Heading back to school always reminds me of the time my brother and I ended up walking to school (1/2 mile...up a few hills) because we'd missed the bus and saw a huge pine tree covered, literally COVERED, with Monarch butterflies. It was so cool and like nothing I'd ever witnessed before or ever since. Anywhoo, I got thinking about that morning and came up with my card using sweet country-bumpkin type pattern papers, buttons and a handful of faux stitches along with the CutUps Lacey Butterfly die in black. I chose orange tones reminiscent of Monarch butterflies and dabs of black here and there. I chose a sentiment from Bearing Flowers and two other CutUps--Pinking & Easy Rosettes. One last thing--a fun, little black resin flower tops the Lacey Butterfly just so!

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope my little trip down memory lane conjures up some fun school days memories for you, too!

Celebrate Your Day {YNS Fun Friday}

Your Next Stamp is celebrating all month long in honor of their 3rd birthday, so each Friday, which is also known as YNS Fun Friday, the design team is featuring celebratory cards and projects. I'm whoopin' it up with that crazy rodent, Sippy! Sippy's slurping up somethin' real good...maybe a little concoction with a bit o' Goldschlager in it?! He's no amateur, I can tell you that! My card also uses the YNS Challenge 12-Sketch Time!

Here's a closeup of that special drink, which is 3 parts Crystal Effects mixed with 1 part gold glitter in Crafty Land! How's that for non-alcoholic?!

I sure hope you get a chance to take in the rest of this week's celebration over at the YNS Blog because I'm sure it's hoppin' over there! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping over.

TCP Tuesday 224: Water, Water Everywhere!

Susan is our hipster hostess this week, and as always, she's got a fun challenge for us--to use the water element in our creation AND either the CutUps Wave or Snowflake die. I love the idea of churning out some wintry delights with the CutUps Snowflake die, but I'm not quite ready to put summer away yet, so I opted for the CutUps Wave this week in conjunction with our parachuting bunny from Oh Chute!

The little bunster has gotten himself (or herself?) into a bit of a jam, so "Oh, Chute!" was THE perfect sentiment for this occasion! The papers are from Crate Paper with a few rounds of linen thread anchoring the buttons and DMC cotton floss as real parachute string, which reminds me of those cool plastic mini paratroopers you'd get as a kid, all folded up to fit in a gumball machine capsule...you remember, don't you?! Ü

Check out Susan's blog for complete TCP Tuesday details and then stop over at Alma's blog on Monday(s) for a recap of the week's TCP Tuesday DT participants. Alma's changing things up a bit for a more complete listing and detail of the challenge. Lastly, you can always get the up-to-the-minute TCP Tuesday info in our SCS Member Co. Forum each Tuesday as well, and that way, you'll know who the hipster hostess is as well!

Thanks for stopping by!

TCP Tuesday 223: Stay Cool!

As I type this post we're actually experiencing nice, cool temps, and who knows, maybe it was my 'cool card' that brought 'em on?! Who knows? Being that school will be starting in a few weeks, I'm SURE the temps will get right back up to hot and steamy...just like clock work! Anyway, about the card...

...the sentiment is part of TCP's By The Sea paired up with a fun Popsicle cut file from the Silhouette online store. I put the colors from this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge (rose, sunshine & teal) into a color block type formation and added a trio of extras that includes a fishtail, buttons and spiral notebook punches. I think it's my brain's way of telling me that it's bound to get back to Popsicle weather as soon as that notebook paper starts flyin' in September!

Please check out Alma and Lori's blogs for complete TCP Tuesday details!

It's JiFFy Time!

It's been a bit since the JiFFy girls have group posted but life gets a little crazy sometimes, so we just wait it out until everyone can make it to the party, and here we are!

This time around we're using a sweet Stamping Bella image chosen by Lori called Ramona Fishing, and papers chosen by Michele from October Afternoon : "Sidewalks" from the Hide & Seek Collection...a sweet match I must say! It's always a crap shoot because of the anonymity of the paper and image selections, which is what makes it so much fun!

Here's mine...

Let's see how the rest of the JiFFy Girls have fancied up Ramona (I can't wait to see)!

Have a good one!

First up is Happy Fishy Wishes, a fun little birthday card I made using Happy Days Mermaid quite some time ago...one of my first encounters with YNS, so I thought it would be fun to share it (again) on the anniversary of YNS's 3rd birthday!

Next up is a fun little camping notebook I put together using papers from My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline 6x6) and the newly released set, The Great Outdoors!

Are you ready for one more? It's another handmade notebook, but this time it's a reading journal to coincide with the adorable new set, Ellie Loves to Read!

The book measures 3.5 x5 inches, folded.
The journal is divided into sections labeled 'Minutes I read today...'

'I want to read...'

and 'I read...' (all printed in Learning Curve font)

YNS Sneak Peek Day 2: Feather Duster Ellie

Hi there and welcome to Day 2 of Sneak Peeks from Your Next Stamp! I'm lucky enough to be sharing a peek at Feather Duster Ellie with whom I had a ball stamping, coloring and layering on my card that also uses Jen del Muro's August Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT)! As if Ellie isn't cute enough on her own, I just couldn't stop adding fun, domestic-goddess type embellishments--buttons, stick pins, sewing and mini clothespins.

You, too, can have your own fun with Feather Duster Ellie  when she's released next week, so be sure to stop over at the YNS blog for all of the details along with the other Sneak Peeks for today!

TCP Tuesday 221: The Tweetest Things

For this week's TCP Tuesday Inspiration Challenge hosted by Susan Liles. Be sure to check out Susan's blog for the inspiration collage and challenge deets. After last week's challenge card using The Tweetest Things, I just couldn't put it away just yet and got a jump start on this week's challenge pulling from the stack of chairs and colors of the inspiration piece, so fun!

After stamping/stacking my text-y birdhouses, I topped each with colored heart and then dug through my scrap basket to find coordinating cardstock pieces to add to the turquoise sentiment strip. Green buttons worked the best in lieu of any of my green scraps, and I really like the fun dimension and balance they give the horizontal layer. The actual sentiment was stamped onto a die cut black oval using the CutUps Circus Panels die set.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out this week's challenge!
